Dr. Payne hails from the great state of Minnesota, where she captained her high school track and field and tennis teams before heading to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, majoring in biochemistry and minoring in theology. She was the first service learning assistant for the service learning program and did extensive volunteer work with Open Arms of Minnesota during this time, including building their library on multiple sclerosis information.
